8 defendants were released in 'Iron Fist' case

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 29 suspects, including Erol Eşrefoğlu (Evcil), Hüseyin Eryılmaz and Melih Karabacak, were arrested. Some of the suspects were later released on appeal. In the investigation, which was divided into 3 separate groups, the Prosecutor's Office first called 17 people, including Erol Eşrefoğlu (Evcil), then 46 people, including Hüseyin Eryılmaz, and finally the Melih Karabacak group, which included 136 people, to 'establish a criminal organization' and ' filed a lawsuit on charges of 'fraud against public institutions' within the scope of a criminal organization.

The second trial, in which 46 defendants, 8 of whom were detained, were tried, continued today at the Ankara 33rd High Criminal Court. After reading some of the documents included in the file, the court listened to some witnesses who did not come to the hearing by making excuses within the scope of the case. After hearing the witnesses, the court gave the floor to the lawyers of the accused in terms of incoming documents and witness statements. After the statements, the lawyers of the defendants, who took the floor regarding the detention, demanded release, while the lawyers of the pending defendants, whose judicial control provisions were applied, also demanded the removal of judicial controls for various reasons.

8 DEFENDANTS HAVE BEEN RELEASED

The Public Prosecutor, whose opinion was asked after the statements, demanded that the detention of the detained defendants be decided to continue. Announcing its decision after the prosecutor's request, the court decided to release the detained defendants Hulusi Belgü, Hüseyin Eryılmaz, Muzaffer İzgi, İhsan Göymen, İsmail Eryılmaz, Mustafa Kırmızı, Ahmet Kurtuluş and Yılmaz Altunbulak. The court, which ruled that the judicial control provisions of some pending defendants should be abolished, postponed the hearing.
