Karsan won the 100 percent electric public transportation tenders opened by the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration.

While signatures were signed for the export of the public transportation system worth 35 million Euros in two separate ceremonies, Karsan won both tenders with its 100 percent electric 18-meter-long bus.

Karsan will also establish 75 charging stations, 19 of which are fast charging, in Romania, and will provide a comprehensive electric public transport system service by undertaking the maintenance and garage operation of the vehicles for 6 years. Karsan aims to make the first deliveries by 2022.

"Our largest electric bus park is located in Romania"
Providing information about the two tenders won, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said that the future of transportation is electric and driverless public transportation vehicles and that they continue their investments in this area without slowing down.

Stating that they have been bringing 100% electric models to the road one after another since 2018, Baş said, "Atak Electric and Jest Electric continue to be the zero-emission choices of Europe, and at the same time, they have covered more than 1 million kilometers and provided us with an important experience. Today, our electric buses are Romania, It provides services in many countries around the world such as France, Germany, Portugal and even Mexico. Romania is a very valuable market for us. We have the largest electric bus park in Romania, with 65 units, after France. Moreover, Romania is very fast in electric transformation in transportation. A country that adapts itself. We are responding to Romania's rapid transformation and efficient public transportation needs with our high-tech electrical products in all sizes from 6 meters to 18 meters. The dynamics of the Karsan brand and Romania quite overlap in terms of rapidly adapting to the technological transformation. " used the phrases.

“We approach transportation as a whole”
Noting that they will expand their vehicle portfolio with the new 100% electric bus models in the 12 and 18 meter class, which they will introduce very soon, Okan Baş stated that they made a very good start with the tender they won. Baş said: “These tenders worth 35 million euros do not only mean the sale of buses. As Karsan, we approach transportation as a whole. In this context, as Karsan, we will carry out a total of 75 charging stations, 19 of which are fast charging, and all maintenance operations and garage operations of the vehicles. In other words, we can call this agreement worth 35 million euros an electric public transportation system agreement. As Karsan, we are very happy to sign the biggest electric bus export agreement of the Turkish automotive industry worth 35 million euros. We also find the agreement very valuable in terms of exporting new technology within the Turkish automotive industry. We will continue to provide added value to our country with electric and driverless vehicles."
