2nd European Steel Scrap and Circular Economy Forum 2026 to spotlight sustainability in the steel industry

The 2nd European Steel Scrap and Circular Economy Forum 2026, which will focus on expanding circular economy practices and reducing carbon emissions in the steel industry, will be held on 11–12 November 2026 in Düsseldorf. The event will take place in a hybrid format, offering both in person and online participation, and will bring together industry representatives from across Europe and other regions of the world.

2nd European Steel Scrap and Circular Economy Forum 2026 to spotlight sustainability in the steel industry

As carbon neutrality and circular economy initiatives continue to gain momentum, steel scrap has emerged as a key solution for the steel industry's low carbon transition due to its high recyclability. Compared with primary steel production, steel scrap significantly reduces carbon emissions while playing a critical role in material recovery and reuse across the steel industry and many other industrial sectors. Against this backdrop, the forum will bring together scrap processors, steel producers, end users, technology providers, researchers and policymakers to discuss both the opportunities and challenges of advancing the circular economy in the steel sector. The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, align strategic priorities and evaluate practical roadmaps that support the transition toward a more sustainable, low carbon and circular steel ecosystem. As global manufacturing continues to evolve, the forum aims to promote industrial growth while advancing environmental sustainability.

During the two day program, discussions will focus on the competitiveness of the European Union's scrap industry, the strategic role of scrap in the European steel sector, developing resilient supply chains through high quality recycled materials, optimizing scrap utilization in Europe's electric arc furnace (EAF) steel production, building a sustainable and resilient European steel scrap ecosystem, a panel session titled "Building a Resilient and Circular Steel Scrap Ecosystem," market driven policy approaches for the European scrap industry, strategic resource security and financing decarbonization across Europe's circular steel economy.

The event is expected to attract steel producers, scrap processing companies, recycling machinery and equipment suppliers, digital technology providers, representatives from the automotive, construction and machinery manufacturing industries, as well as the home appliance and electronics sectors, steel packaging companies, environmental consulting firms, industry associations, public institutions, research organizations, investment companies and logistics providers.

The forum aims to support the development of the circular economy in Europe's steel industry, increase the use of steel scrap, strengthen sustainable supply chains and encourage new collaborations among industry stakeholders.
