The programme, now in its ninth year, evaluates the environmental, social, governance and economic (ESGE) performance of member companies that stand out for their contributions to sustainable development worldwide.
For 2026, the companies selected as Sustainability Champions include ArcelorMittal, China Steel Corporation, EMSTEEL, Gerdau, HBIS Group, Hyundai Steel, InfraBuild, JFE Steel, Jingye Group, JSW Steel, POSCO Holdings, Tata Steel, Tenaris, and Ternium.
Tata Steel and Tenaris have been included among the Champions every year since the programme began in 2018, achieving this recognition for the ninth consecutive time.
worldsteel stated that, under the programme, members must meet several requirements to be eligible as Sustainability Champions, including adherence to the Sustainability Charter, compliance with 20 criteria covering ESGE areas, submission of Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data, and participation in safety and health programmes.
It was also reported that certificates for the Champion companies were presented during the Worldsteel Members’ Special General Meeting (SGM) held in April.
