Local steel mills' official offers for June rolling low-carbon drawing grade wire rod are currently standing at 3,100-3,200 zloty ($756-781) per tonne CPT.
According to sources, rare deals were struck during the week at 2,750-2,850 zloty per tonne CPT.
The weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (ductile grade) for delivery in Poland was down by 50 zloty to 2,750-2,850 zloty per tonne on Friday from 2,800-2,900 zloty per tonne on 9 June.
Import offers were stable to slightly lower for the week to 16 June
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (AMKR) has not been on the Polish market since last week, following the destruction of a hydroelectric power station in Nova Kakhovka in southern Ukraine on 6 June. Ukraine accused Russia of blowing up the dam, which is located in an area that has been under Russian occupation since February 2022. Russia denies this allegation.
Market sources in Poland said that AMKR has not accepted any new orders for wire rod deliveries to Poland despite recent reports that it has restarted its rolling mills.
Some market sources in Poland said that AMKR's absence would reduce competition among overseas sellers in Poland and help stabilise prices.
