While the EU's HRC imports from Russia and India increase, its imports from Turkey decrease

In the 8-month period of 2021, EU27's total imports of HRC products within the scope of quota increased by 41.3% to reach 6.65 million tons.

Russia had the largest share in EU imports with 24%. Imports from Russia increased by 34.2% to 1.62 million tons.

The second largest source of EU imports was India, which increased its share in EU imports from 9% to 17%. EU imports from India rose 161.8% to 1.12 million tons.

While the EU's imports from Turkey decreased by 32.9%, Turkey's share in the EU27's imports decreased from 31% to 15%.

In the first 8 months of 2020, Turkey was the EU-27's largest supplier of HRC, while in the same period of this year, it ranked 3rd behind Russia and India.

The data reveal that the decrease in the EU's imports from Turkey has been overtaken by other supplier countries.
