According to the Ministry of Trade data, in the first 10 months of the year, 29 provinces achieved exports of over USD1 billion, while 46 provinces managed to increase their exports.
In October, Istanbul remained in the first place with exports worth USD4 billion 859 million however, the city's exports fell by 6.1% compared to the same month last year. Precious/semi-precious stones Istanbul's exports with USD793.4 million, followed by machinery and knitted clothing.
Kocaeli ranked second in October with an export value of USD3 billion 19 million and increased its outward trade by 6.7%. The highest export item in the city was motorized land vehicles at USD1 billion 132 million electric machines and mineral fuels were also among the other major categories.
İzmir ranked third with exports worth USD1.929 billion, marking a 9.9% increase. Mineral fuels led the city’s exports with USD418.1 million, while machinery and the iron steel chapter made significant contributions.
Looking at the countries to which the provinces export the most, Germany ranked first for Istanbul with USD322.05 million, while the United States and the UAE were other key markets. Kocaeli also made its highest exports to Germany, followed by the United Kingdom and Italy. Germany was likewise the top market for İzmir, with the United States and Spain completing the top three.
Based on these figures, 29 provinces in Turkey exceeded the USD1 billion export threshold in the January-October period, while 46 provinces increased their exports compared to the previous year.
