Rebar exports plunged by 92% month-on-month, totaling only 39 tons, with Hong Kong serving as the primary export destination. Concurrently, H-section exports experienced an 80% decline, amounting to about 1,600 tons, with Australia and New Zealand emerging as key destinations.
In contrast, H-section imports to Taiwan totaled about 7,400 tons, marking a 27% decrease compared to the previous month. South Korea dominated as the main import source, contributing around 5,100 tons, followed by Japan with approximately 2,300 tons.
Turning to stainless steel wire rod, in February, Taiwan's exports amounted to about 8,200 tons, reflecting a decrease of 19.6% compared to the previous month. Among these exports, South Korea emerged as the main destination, experiencing a month-on-month growth of 16.9% to about 2,000 tons. However, shipments to Thailand dropped by 58.2% to approximately 1,000 tons, while exports to China decreased by 39.8% to about 850 tons.
During the same period, Taiwan's imports of stainless steel wire rod totaled about 950 tons, marking a month-on-month increase of 25.7%. Notably, Japan led as the top import source, surging by 62.2% to approximately 670 tons. Conversely, imports from South Korea decreased by 25.7% to around 168 tons, while those from India soared by 173% to 100 tons.
Meanwhile, In February, Taiwan’s pig iron imports totaled around 13,000 tons, marking a significant 66% decrease from the previous month. Of these imports, approximately 7,000 tons originated from Russia and 4,000 tons from Brazil.
Market observers have highlighted that inquiries for pig iron in Taiwan notably diminished compared to previous periods due to concerns regarding carbon emissions.
