As of the week of 11 January 2025, crude steel production in the US increased by 1.8% y-o-y to 1,659,000 net tons. Capacity utilisation rate was 74.5% during this week. In the same week of 2024, production was 1,629,000 net tons, while capacity utilisation rate was recorded as 73.3%.
On a weekly basis, production increased by 1.5%. In the week ending 4 January 2025, production was 1,635,000 net tons and capacity utilisation rate was 73.6%.
As of 11 January 2025, total crude steel production for the year was recorded at 2,593,000 net tons, with a capacity utilisation rate of 74.1%. This represented an increase of 1.3% compared to 2,560,000 net tons and a capacity utilisation rate of 73.3% in the same period in 2024.
