Volkswagen delivered 4.73 million vehicles globally in 2025

The Volkswagen brand delivered 4.73 million vehicles to customers worldwide last year, maintaining deliveries at nearly the same level despite challenging market conditions, with a as yearly declined of 1.4%.

Looking at the regional breakdown, deliveries increased by 5.1% in Europe and surged by 18.5% in South America. In contrast, deliveries in the Chinese market declined by 8.4%, while deliveries in North America decreased by 8.2%, impacted by U.S. tariffs.

In 2025, Volkswagen’s fully electric vehicle deliveries decreased slightly by 0.2% to around 382,000 units. As a result, fully electric models accounted for 8.1% of total deliveries. The brand maintained its market leadership in Europe in both internal combustion engine vehicles and fully electric models. In Germany, Volkswagen’s market share rose by 0.5 percentage points to 19.6%.

Martin Sander, Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and After Sales at Volkswagen, stated that the delivery figures demonstrate strong customer interest. He noted that market conditions are expected to remain challenging in 2026, but emphasized that the company is well prepared with a renewed product portfolio and an efficiency focused strategy. He also announced that more than 10 new electric models will be launched in China alone this year.

Strong Growth in Electric ID. Models in Europe

Volkswagen significantly increased its fully electric vehicle sales in 2025. In Germany, electric vehicle deliveries rose by 60.7% to 93,800 units, while across Europe they climbed by 49.1% to 247,900 units.

The ID.7, now the family’s new best selling model, was one of the key drivers of this growth. In Germany, ID.7 deliveries jumped by 132% to 35,000 units. The model also attracted strong demand across Europe, with orders increasing by 133.9% to 76,600 units. The ID.7 is available in two body styles: the sedan and the ID.7 Tourer.

Volkswagen expects demand for electric vehicles to increase further in 2026, supported by new models such as the ID. Polo, with a starting price of around EUR 25,000, and the compact SUV ID. Cross.

T-Roc Becomes Europe’s Best-Selling SUV

SUV models accounted for 50.2% of Volkswagen’s total sales in 2025, marking a 5.3% increase. In the U.S., SUV models represented more than 78.5% of the brand’s sales.

The T-Roc emerged as Europe’s best selling SUV. Sales of the second generation T-Roc, which was launched in 2025, increased by 3.9% to 201,995 units. The Volkswagen Tayron, introduced in spring 2025, also delivered a strong performance with 60,700 units delivered worldwide.
