Global seamless pipe solutions provider Vallourec has announced that it has signed a major pipe supply contract for the Greater PAJ offshore development project in Angola, developed by Azule Energy, a joint venture between Eni and BP.
Under the contract, Vallourec will supply more than 26,000 metric tons of seamless carbon steel line pipe, including advanced solutions featuring heavy thermal insulation coatings. Deliveries, covering approximately 210 kilometers of pipeline, are scheduled to begin in July 2027 and be completed by December 2027.
The company stated that the contract will support one of the largest and most technically challenging deepwater developments currently under construction offshore Angola.
Five offshore fields
Located around 200 kilometers off the Angolan coast in water depths ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 meters, the Greater PAJ project comprises the development of five offshore fields: Palas, Astraea, Juno, Dione, and Urano.
As part of the project, Vallourec will supply seamless line pipes for production flowlines, service lines, water injection lines, and gas export pipelines. The company noted that these solutions will provide the critical infrastructure required for hydrocarbon production and transportation in ultra-deepwater environments.
120 mm thermal insulation system
Vallourec also announced that the project will incorporate one of the thickest thermal insulation systems ever deployed in the subsea industry. The pipes will feature Glass Syntactic Polypropylene (GSPP) thermal insulation with a thickness of up to 120 mm.
According to the company, the contract further demonstrates Vallourec's engineering expertise and its ability to deliver fully integrated solutions for demanding offshore applications.
Commenting on the award, Vallourec Chairman and CEO Philippe Guillemot said:"This contract is a strong endorsement of Vallourec's unique expertise in complex offshore line pipe projects and advanced thermal insulation solutions. It reinforces our position as a trusted partner for major deepwater developments while strengthening our presence in Angola, where we have successfully delivered projects in the past. I would like to thank Azule Energy for once again placing its confidence in us, as well as all Vallourec teams whose dedication made this achievement possible."
With approximately 13,000 employees operating in more than 20 countries, Vallourec develops high value-added seamless tubular solutions for the energy sector and other demanding industrial applications. The company supplies premium tubular products for oil and gas wells, next-generation power plants, architectural projects, and high-performance mechanical equipment.
