Uzbekistan and the United States signed agreements on the development of rare earth metals

Uzbekistan and the United States have signed cooperation agreements in the development of rare earth metals and artificial intelligence, according to the press service of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is in Washington to participate in the Central Asia-US summit.

Uzbekistan and the United States signed agreements on the development of rare earth metals

During the visit, following a roundtable discussion with the heads of leading American companies, investment funds, and financial institutions, a ceremony was held in the presence of Mirziyoyev and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to exchange bilateral documents: the Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan signed agreements with Denali Exploration Group, and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan signed agreements with Re Element Technologies to implement rare earth metal projects.

As part of the cooperation, the parties will develop the extraction and deep processing of uranium, copper, tungsten, molybdenum, and graphite, creating reliable supply chains using advanced American processing technologies.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and Palo Alto Networks signed an agreement to expand cooperation in the field of AI. Digital collaboration is also underway with Google, Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), and NVIDIA, including the implementation of the Apple Pay and Google Pay payment systems, the creation of a Digital Academy, and a network of startup hubs.

By 2028, the country plans to implement over 70 projects in the field of critical mineral resources worth $1.6 billion, given that deposits of more than 30 metals have been identified in Uzbekistan, including tungsten, molybdenum, magnesium, lithium, germanium, graphite, vanadium, and titanium.
