The U.S.A. jobless claims beat expectations

The U.S.A. Department of Labor announced the data on weekly unemployment claims. Accordingly, the number of people who applied for unemployment benefits for the first time in the country increased by 7 thousand to 207 thousand in the week ending January 1 compared to the previous week.

In this period, it was predicted that 197 thousand applications for unemployment benefits exceeded expectations. The previous week's data on the number of unemployment benefits applications was revised from 198 thousand to 200 thousand. As of last week, 4-week average unemployment benefits applications increased by 4 thousand 750 compared to the previous week and became 204 thousand 500. On the other hand, ongoing unemployment applications increased by 36 thousand to 1 million 754 thousand in the week ending December 25, compared to the previous week. The number of those who applied for unemployment benefits for the first time in the USA increased in March last year as the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic affected the labor market. Analysts stated that applications for unemployment benefits may increase further in the coming weeks due to the increasing cases in the Kovid-19 outbreak.
