According to delivery license data released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. steel imports in December could fall to 1.98 million tons, down by 24% from steel imports in December 2021.
Compared to imports in December 2021, it was 726,900 tons with a decrease of 38%. The license application decreased by 51% and 44% for hot-rolled coil and hot-dipped galvanized coil, respectively.
As well, semi-finished steel licenses decreased by 48% y-o-y to 294,000 tons, while slab license decreased by 79% to 79,000 tons.
