The United States (US) Senate recently approved an infrastructure action of approximately $1 trillion in scale to boost domestic steel demand. Some American steel buyers are mostly accepting this measure and it is expected to increase demand for steel, especially steel flats and rebar.
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) estimates that every US$1 billion of infrastructure needs 50,000 short tons of steel, among which the highway construction project requires 17 million short tons of steel. AISI said America's domestic steel demand was 112.2 million tons in 2018.
