US hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) coil and cold-rolled coil (CRC) prices increased by $50/short ton (st) to $1,050/st ex-works this week due to tight supply and extended lead times. Repeatable HDG price offers ranged from $1,020-1,080/st, with steel mills pushing prices to $1,100-1,150/st range. Galvanized lead times stalled in the last week, falling by a week to 9.5 weeks from 10.5 weeks. Repeatable CRC pricing ranged between $1,000-1,100/st, with mills also pushing pricing up to the $1,100-1,150/st range. Cold-rolled lead times also stalled and fell by a week to 9.5 weeks.
US hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices rose for the third week as mills force offers higher due to tight supply and news of tentative resolutions between automakers and the union. Prices rose by $50/short ton (st) to $850/st ex-works from the prior week and are now up by $190/st from September lows. Prices remain 29pc lower than the 2023 peak of $1,200/st in April.
