The steelmakers' association said on Tuesday that Ukraine's steel production fell by 70.7% to 6.26 million tons in 2022, due to the Russian invasion and the destruction of major steelworks.
Ukraine was formerly a major steel producer and exporter. In 2021, steel production rose 3.3% to 21.3 million tons.
The union said in a statement that its rolled steel production fell 72% to 5.35 million tons in 2022, and pig iron production fell 69.8% to 6.39 million tons.
