According to data from the Ukrainian steelmakers' association Ukrmetallurgprom in the first five months of 2022 Ukraine’s pig iron production was around 4.15 million tons, decreasing by 53.3% year on year.
During the period, the crude steel output from Ukraine was about 4.24 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 52.8%. Ukraine’s steel production totaled around 3.79 million tons, declining by 52.7% compared to the same period of last year.
Compared Ukraine’s iron ore with steel, Ukraine’s iron ore output and exports had less impact.
Ferrexpo, an iron ore pellet manufacturer in Ukraine, produced approximately 4.4 million tons of pellet from January to February, decreasing by 8% year on year.
