Ukraine's metallurgical industry has lost most of its potential

Since the beginning of the war, the geography of exports has changed significantly due to the blocking of ports.

January 2023 Ukrainian steel production amounted to 284 thousand tons, down 84.7 percent compared to January 2022. Thus, Ukraine fell to 35th place in the world ranking among 64 steel producing countries.

In February 2023, Ukraine's iron ore exports increased by 31% compared to January 2023, reaching 1,215 million tons.

Metallurgists talk about the possibility of resuming production in six months or a year.
