According to the results of the pre-war 2021, Ukraine ranked 14th in the world in terms of steel production. Already the following year, it dropped to 25th place.
In the first eight months of 2024, steel production in Ukraine increased by 30.7% year-on-year to 5.27 million tons.
Global steel production for this period amounted to 1.25 billion tons, which is 1.54% lower than the figure for January-August 2023. The leader here is China, where production decreased by 3.3% compared to January-August last year to 691.41 million tons.
In the global ranking of pig iron producers, Ukraine retained 13th position among 40 countries with a production volume of 4.73 million tons (+21.1% compared to January-August 2023).
