British steel association UK Steel said the recovery in British steel production and demand after the pandemic should continue until 2022, but uncertainty and other issues could dampen this trend.
An important issue for the UK government to address is the increase in electricity prices in order to continue the development of domestic steelmakers.
Other topics included how the government handled project steel purchases and the impact of the EU-US Section 232 tariff agreement.
British steel experts said it's more worrying that the deal between the US and the EU has the potential to hurt the UK's semis exports to the EU, where it is processed and re-exported to the US.
