According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute ( TUIK), Türkiye's steel bar imports in June 2024 increased by 64.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, rising from 12,302 tons to 20,255 tons. This figure decreased by 36.1% compared to the previous month, May.
Total steel bar imports for the January-June period decreased by 4.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, falling from 97,655 tons to 93,054 tons.
Portugal led the countries from which Türkiye imported steel bars in June with 10,089 tons, followed by Iran with 5,651 tons, Italy with 2,284 tons, Germany with 794 tons, and Egypt with 622 tons.
