According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's scrap imports totaled 1,484,833 mt in May, down 6.48% compared to 1,587,773 mt recorded in the same month of last year. Compared to April, scrap imports in May decreased by 20.1%.
In the January-May period, Türkiye's total scrap imports amounted to 8,060,731 mt, marking a 0.91% year-on-year decline.
By country, the US was Türkiye's largest scrap supplier in May. Imports from the US fell by 13.22% year on year to 243,576 mt. The UK ranked second, with imports increasing by 5.27% to 226,284 mt, while imports from the Netherlands rose by 5.68% to 208,258 mt.
