According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye’s scrap imports in October decreased by 12.6% annualy, they decreased from 1 billion 691 thousand 087 tons to 1 billion 280 thousand 803 tons.
Compared to the previous month, September, they decreased by 24.3%.
The total scrap imports for the January–October period decreased by 7.4%, falling from 16 billion 387 thousand 328 tons to 15 billion 167 thousand 838 tons.
In the month in question, Türkiye imported the largest volume of scrap from the United States. Imports from the U.S. dropped by 44.5% annualy, declining from 461,704 tons to 256,464 tons, while in the first ten months of the year they decreased by 23.5% to 2 billion 962 thousand 121 tons.
In October, the United Kingdom ranked second among the countries from which Türkiye imported the most scrap, with imports from the UK increasing by 22.5%. The UK was followed by the Netherlands with a 2.4% decline, Romania with an 11.6% increase, and Germany with a 218.2% increase.
