Türkiye’s february exports to Germany reached record high and steel exports increased

Türkiye’s exports to Germany reached an all-time high in February, and the steel sector also saw significant activity.

According to information compiled by an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter from data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TEA), Türkiye’s exports increased by 1.6% year-on-year in February, reaching USD 21.0649 billion. During the same period, Türkiye recorded its highest February exports to Germany on record, totaling USD 1.6623 billion.

Exports to Germany rose by 11.9% compared to the same period last year, while exports to the country had amounted to USD 1.4849 billion in the same period of 2025.

Germany thus maintained its position as Türkiye’s top export destination. In February, exports reached USD 1.1154 billion to the United Kingdom, USD 1.0123 billion to Italy, USD 994.7 million to the United States, and USD 861.6 million to France.

Industrial sectors stood out in exports to Germany, with the automotive industry leading at USD 543.9 million. This was followed by ready-to-wear and apparel with USD 198.2 million, iron and non-ferrous metals with USD 130.4 million, chemicals and chemical products with USD 116.9 million, and the electrical and electronics sector with USD 100.2 million. During the same period, steel exports to Germany were recorded at USD 68.1 million.

Strong increases in steel exports to some markets

According to data obtained by SteelRadar from TİM statistics, Türkiye’s steel exports showed varying trends across different countries in February. In the February 1–28 period, Türkiye’s total steel exports decreased by 3.3% year-on-year, reaching USD 1.1926 billion. Despite the overall decline, notable increases were observed in several markets.

Romania was among the countries where exports increased significantly, with shipments increasing by 43.6% to USD 92.5 million. Steel exports to the United Kingdom climbed 61.1% to USD 69.8 million, while exports to Germany increased 13% to USD 68.2 million.

Steel exports to the United States recorded a sharp surge, jumping 251.7% to USD 56.8 million. During the same period, exports increased by 66.3% to Serbia, 111.3% to Croatia, 78.8% to the Netherlands, and 81.9% to Tunisia. Steel exports to Peru also increased 57.8%, reaching USD 22.3 million.

On the other hand, exports declined in some markets. Steel exports decreased 45.1% to Spain, 41.3% to Belgium, 44% to Iraq, and 27.2% to Morocco.

Looking at the first two months of the year, Türkiye’s total steel exports amounted to USD 2.2749 billion. During this period, significant increases were recorded in markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Croatia, and the Netherlands, while contractions were observed in some traditional markets.
