According to data from the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TSPA), Türkiye’s crude steel production increased by 3.3% year-on-year in 2025, reaching 38.1 million tonnes. As a result, production, which stood at 36.9 million tonnes in 2024, returned to an upward trend in 2025.
In December 2025, crude steel output increased by 18.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 3.5 million tonnes. During the same period, billet production increased by 16.5% to 2.2 million tonnes, while slab production climbed by 22.1% to 1.3 million tonnes.
An analysis of 12-month data shows that billet production increased by 6.1% year-on-year in 2025 to 24.2 million tonnes, while slab production declined by 1.2% to 13.9 million tonnes. Accordingly, the overall increase in production was driven mainly by the rise in billet output.
In terms of production methods, electric arc furnace (EAF) steel production increased by 6.1% in 2025 to 27.5 million tonnes, while production at integrated plants (BOF) declined by 1.2% to 10.6 million tonnes. Of total crude steel production, 72.2% was produced via electric arc furnaces, while 27.8% came from integrated facilities.
According to data covering the 2015–2025 period, Türkiye’s crude steel production peaked at 40.4 million tonnes in 2021, followed by a downward trend in 2022 and 2023, before entering a recovery phase again in 2024 and 2025.
