According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's billet imports in May increased by 207.8% compared to the same month of the previous year, increasing from 155,336 tons to 478,092 tons. Compared to the previous month, April, it increased by 78%.
Total billet imports in the January–May period increased by 35.6% from 1,157,478 tons to 1,570,074 tons.
During the month in question, Türkiye imported billet from Malaysia, Russia and China ranked in the top 3. Billet imports from Malaysia amounted to 150,946 tons, followed by Russia with 109,963 tons and China with 90,884 tons.
