Trump signed the bill that ended the government shutdown

U.S. President Donald Trump signed the temporary budget bill passed by Congress, ending the longest government shutdown in the country's history.

Trump signed the bill that ended the government shutdown

In his speech at the White House ceremony, Trump signed the budget that will provide funding for the government until the end of January. The shutdown ended after 43 days.

In his statement, Trump blamed Democrats for the shutdown, saying, “Today is a great day for our country, we can get back to work.” Trump stated that the temporary budget was not a permanent solution and called for the abolition of the “filibuster” practice in Congress.

Trump also criticized the “Obamacare” system, arguing that the money transferred to insurance companies should be given directly to citizens.

The U.S. government shut down on October 1st because Congress failed to approve the temporary budget before the new fiscal year began.

While federal agencies were shut down, the dispute between the parties led to the longest shutdown in the country's history.

On the 40th day of the shutdown, Democratic and Republican senators reached a consensus on the temporary budget. The Democrats' willingness to drop the healthcare subsidy condition opened the way for the process.

The draft was approved by 60 to 40 votes in the Senate and by 222 to 209 votes in the House of Representatives. Thus, the way for the government to reopen became clear.
