The world's largest steel giants have secured their place on the Fortune 500 global list

This year, the world's leading steel producers have once again made it onto Fortune's “Global 500” list, published in 2025.

t the top of the list is China Baowu Steel Group, with revenues of USD 125.1 billion. Despite a 20.4% decrease in revenues compared to last year, the company generated a net profit of nearly USD 2.5 billion.

Another notable company on the list was ArcelorMittal. With revenues of USD 62.4 billion, the company ranked 223rd on the list, with revenues decreasing by 8.5% y/y and net profit reaching USD 1.3 billion. Japan-based Nippon Steel attracted attention with a profit of USD 2.3 billion despite a 7% decrease in revenues.

China-based Tsingshan Holding Group ranked 247th on the list with revenues of USD 56.5 billion. The company increased its revenues by 4.7% and reported a profit of USD 960 million.

Similarly, Chinese company HBIS Group ranked on the list with USD 55.9 billion in revenue, while its annual revenue decrease was 1.5%. Its net profit was reported to be only USD 40.9 million.

POSCO Holdings, Jingye Group, Hangzhou Iron and Steel Group, ThyssenKrupp, Jiangsu Shagang Group, Ansteel Group, Shanghai Delong Steel Group, Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group, and Hunan Iron & Steel Group also made the list, once again highlighting the global significance of the iron and steel sector.

German giant ThyssenKrupp was one of the few companies to report a loss on the list, with USD 1.63 billion. China-based Ansteel Group also reported a loss of USD 1.38 billion.

This year's list included a total of 14 steel companies. While most of these companies are based in China, notable players from Japan, South Korea, and Germany also made the list.
