The US has launched an investigation into imports of rebar from Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, and Vietnam

The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has reached a reasonable conclusion that rebar imported from Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, and Vietnam is being sold at “unfair prices” in the US and is subsidized by the governments of Bulgaria, Egypt, and Vietnam, thereby causing material injury to the domestic industry.

Pursuant to the unanimous decision by Commission Chair Amy A. Karpel and members David S. Johanson and Jason E. Kearns, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue the investigation process.

The Department is expected to announce its preliminary determination on anti-dumping measures regarding imports of rebar from the aforementioned countries on November 12, 2025, and its preliminary determination on subsidies on August 28, 2025.

A public report detailing the investigation is scheduled to be published as a USITC publication titled “Rebar from Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, and Vietnam” in July 2025.
