The Thai Iron and Steel Institute expects the country's steel market to grow by at least 5% in 2022 and is calling for more government cooperation.
Institute head Nava Chantanasurakon, pointing to a recovery in exports and services, predicted that Thai steel demand will increase by at least 5% annually in 2022.
Institute head Nava Chantanasurakon pointed out that steel is the backbone of the manufacturing industry to be included in the government's circular economy plan.
The head of the institute, Wirote Rotewatanachai, reported that steel consumption in the first 11 months of 2021 rose 15% year on year to 17.3 million tons. Plate consumption increased by 22% and long product consumption increased by 4%.
