Tata Steel makes Odisha an investment destination with Kalinganagar expansion

Tata Steel announced that Odisha will become the company's most important investment center with the phase-2 expansion of its Kalinganagar plant to increase its capacity from 3 million tons to 8 million tons per annual capacity. 3.24 USD billion has been invested in this expansion and the expanded capacity of the plant has reached the commissioning stage.

The expansion at Kalinganagar is expected to play a critical role in Tata Steel's goal of reaching 40 million tons of total capacity in India by 2030.

It was also said that along with the Meramandali plant in Dhenkanal district, the company's total investment in Odisha has reached over  12.06 USD billion.

Tata Steel underlined that the capacity of the Kalinganagar plant can be increased up to 16 million tons in the coming years, which will continue to increase the importance of Odisha in Tata Steel's growth strategy.
