Tata Steel has switched from furnace oil and high speed diesel to a more sustainable fuel option - Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) - to address pressing environmental concerns and reduce carbon emissions.

Tata Steel and IOCL partner to reduce carbon footprint

An agreement has been signed with Tata Steel and Indian Oil Corporation Limited at its Ferro Alloy plant to further reduce its carbon footprint, a statement said on Thursday.

The agreement covers supply of LPG, installation of LPG plants and their operation and maintenance at the company's Ferro Alloy plants at Gopalpur in Ganjam and Athagarh in Cuttack districts of Odisha, Tata Steel said in a statement.

In the face of global challenges, Tata Steel has decided to opt for a more sustainable fuel option - Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

This environmentally friendly move is expected to lead to a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
