Taiwan's stainless steel exports increased

Taiwan's stainless steel exports are increasing, accompanied by rising stainless steel prices. Taiwan's exports are considered a significant indicator of global economic development, with the upward trend observed since January 2024 continuing since June 2023. Reports of stainless steel factories filling their order books and stainless steel prices rising support this positive trend.

Taiwan's stainless steel exports increased

In January, exports increased by over 18.1% year-on-year, with China, Hong Kong, ASEAN countries, and the US being the most important trading partners. Particularly, exports to the US surged by nearly 57%.

The export trend is reflected in reports from all major Taiwanese stainless steel producers announcing price increases for February shortly before the start of the Chinese New Year and the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Additionally, it is noted that most producers in the market have already filled their order books well and are planning further price increases to cover higher costs.
