Taiwan announced that it has launched a comprehensive anti-dumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled flat steel products from China.
This step was taken after China Steel and Zhonglong Steel, Taiwan's leading steel producers, requested temporary and permanent anti-dumping duties against certain steel products from China. The investigation has been extended to all hot-rolled steel products from China.
The products from China include carbon steel, alloy steel and special steel, ranging from thin coils to large plate sizes. These products are classified by HS codes 7208, 7211, 7225 and 7226, while all steel producers, exporters and unnamed affiliated companies importing into Taiwan will also be included in the scope of the investigation.
The investigation team in Taiwan examined the period from mid-2023 to mid-2024 and found that there was a significant increase in Chinese steel imports into Taiwan, which harmed the local industry. Since China is considered a non-market economy, a dumping margin of 23.59% was calculated in comparison with the Indian case.
