Swedish steel company SSAB has announced that it will shut down one of the two blast furnaces at its Raahe steel plant in Finland for 6-8 weeks in November.
Due to the falling demand for steel in the European Union, the company put the scheduled repair at an earlier date.
The efficiency of the blast furnace, which is planned to be stopped at the Raahe plant, which has an annual production capacity of 2.6 million tons of steel, reaches 1.3 million tons of pig iron per year.
