The steel profile price assessment for Northern European delivery was at €740-780 ($830-875) per tonne on Wednesday. The price range of €740-790 per tonne on July 12 narrowed by €10 per tonne at the top of the range.
The Northern European market was fairly quiet in the week to Wednesday as most of the steel industry in the region was on holiday.
In Turkey's frontier market, scrap feedstock prices decreased following the emergence of new deals, while steelmakers in the country kept scrap purchases to a minimum.
Financial problems in Turkey, such as increasing interest rates, depreciating Turkish lira and limited credit lines, have affected final steel sales, reducing demand for scrap.
The daily index for HMS 1&2 (80:20 blend) steel scrap originating in Northern Europe decreased by $12.56 on the week to $364 per tonne from $351.44 per tonne on Wednesday.
The price assessment for local steel section for Southern Europe delivery was €740-780 per tonne on Wednesday, narrowing the price range by €10 per tonne from €740-790 per tonne a week earlier.
