Steel prices continue to fall in China

Although there were no sharp decreases this week, the export offers of thick steel at Chinese ports showed a decrease of 10-15 USD/MT.

Considering the downtrend dominating the domestic market, it was inevitable that the price offers would decrease by 10-15 USD/MT over the past week. The updated offers are above the USD 560/MT FOB level, but counter requests from clients are already at 10-15 USD/MT lower.

In the segment of semi-finished products, although the signs of decrease in slab prices were at the levels of 470-475 USD/MT CIF, the lack of demand increased the concerns in the market. According to experts, the market is aware that the prices of finished flat products will continue to fall in the near future. This situation further reduces the already low demand for semi-finished products.
