The strike in Finland may have a negative impact on the European steel market

Transportation workers, represented by several major unions, are planning a political strike across Finland between March 11 and March 24. This strike is expected to have a negative impact on Europe's steel activities.

Around 7,000 workers in several sectors, including freight transport, transport control, maritime ports and rail transport, are participating in the strike, which demands better working conditions. While the work stoppage is expected to have a direct impact on logistics facilities and infrastructure, Outokumpu and SSAB, two of Europe's leading steel producers, have warned that the strike could negatively affect them and Europe as a whole.

All export ports in Finland will be closed for around 2 weeks, while SSAB predicts that the strike could reduce its European business by around 300 million kroner in the first quarter.
