Swedish steel producer SSAB and Firth Steels, a UK-based manufacturer of steel profiles for roof and wall systems, have established a long-term partnership focused on sustainability. SSAB and Firth Steels: Strategic cooperation for sustainability!

The SSAB steel will be used for Firth Steels' new product line Protex Voyage and will contribute significantly to the company's goal of reducing its CO2 footprint. This collaboration strengthens Firth Steels' strategies to reduce Scope 3 emissions and is considered an important step towards a sustainable future.

"Scope 3 emissions are a significant part of our carbon footprint and we are working towards a sustainable future by reducing these emissions through strategic partnerships with leading companies around the world," said James Firth, Managing Director of Firth Steels Limited.

"We are pleased to expand our collaboration with Firth Steels to include our fossil-free steel products as well as our bio-based GreenCoat coated steels," said Dave Williams, Managing Director of SSAB Sweden Steel Ltd. This is a step that will contribute positively to our own and our customers' efforts to reduce carbon emissions."

SSAB continues to take strong steps towards its sustainability goals. In line with its long-term goals endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative, the company is aiming for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. This is a significant achievement in the steel industry and helps SSAB consolidate its leadership in sustainability.

SSAB's targets emphasize its pioneering role in decarbonization in the steel industry and its contribution to international efforts to curb global warming. Collaborations and innovative product development efforts in this direction contribute significantly to raising sustainability standards across the industry.
