In South Africa, imports of profile products that make up carbon and alloy steel products increased by 31.0% and flat steel imports increased by 21.3%, which had an impact on the increase in carbon and alloy steel products on a ton basis.
According to the monthly data of the South African Revenue Service (SARS), imports of carbon and alloy steel products, excluding semi-finished products, stainless steel and drawn wire products, were 85,373 tons in January 2023, increased by 21,8% to 103,946 tons in February.
