Shougang Jingtang is expanding its production capacity in China with a new galvanizing line

Shougang Jingtang, operating in Caofeidian, China, has signed an agreement with SMS group for the installation of a new continuous galvanizing line (CGL) to increase its production capacity. The line, with an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons, is designed specifically for the production of high-quality galvanized sheet for the automotive sector.

Shougang Jingtang is expanding its production capacity in China with a new galvanizing line

The new CGL will be able to process strips with thicknesses ranging from 0.4 to 2.3 millimeters and widths between 900 and 1,900 millimeters, delivering high efficiency with a processing speed of up to 180 meters per minute.

SMS group will be responsible for engineering, core equipment, as well as electrical and automation systems for the line. To ensure the highest surface quality in automotive sheets, advanced technologies such as the FOEN air knife system and the DUMA-BANDZINK electrostatic oiling machine will be applied. In addition, thanks to the X-Pact® One Pulpit solution, the line will be monitored and controlled in an integrated way from a single center.

The system, offering full automation support, aims to deliver maximum efficiency and stability in the production process through smart sensors, robotic applications, and precise drive technologies.

The cooperation between SMS group and Shougang Jingtang began with the installation of the first continuous annealing line (CAL) in 2007. The new galvanizing line will be the eighth strip processing line installed by SMS at the company’s Caofeidian plant. The line is scheduled to start operation in mid-2027.
