Ship carrying iron ore that ran aground in Ereğli Port was floated

The incident occurred yesterday at the port entrance of the district. The ship named “Mildret”, which wanted to enter Erdemir Port to unload 85 thousand tons of iron ore from Uruguay to Ereğli Iron and Steel Factories (Erdemir), ran aground at the entrance of the port.

The ship was tried to be rescued with the participation of divers in the interventions made by pilot boats.

Karadeniz Ereğli Port Authority decided to stop ship transits to the port for a while in a controlled manner. Rescue efforts launched in the region with the help of divers and drones yielded results in a short time. The “Mildret” ship was floated with the efforts of the teams and preparations were made for the docking maneuver to the discharge dock.

During the investigations, it was learned that there was no fuel leakage or environmental pollution in the area. Port authorities stated that rescue operations were carried out safely and the environmental impacts of the incident was prevented.
