Shadgan Steel inaugurated new wastewater treatment plant

Shadgan Steel’s newly commissioned wastewater treatment facility offers a significant contribution to Iran’s green steel goals and environmental sustainability.

Shadgan Steel inaugurated new wastewater treatment plant

Today, in the city of Shadgan, Iran, Shadgan Steel Industry Company (SSIC) officially brought its new industrial and sanitary wastewater treatment plant into operation. The project was developed in collaboration with Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC), the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), and the National Iranian Steel Company.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Sedigheh Torabi, Deputy Director of Human Environment at the Iranian Environmental Protection Organization, Dr. Ahmadreza Lahijanzadeh, Deputy Director of Marine and Wetlands Affairs, along with many environmental and industrial officials.

The facility is designed to treat wastewater generated from steel production, preventing harmful substances from entering the environment, recycling water, and improving overall water efficiency. In this way, it stands as a concrete step toward Iran’s green steel vision.

SSIC General Manager Hossein Kehzad stated that the plant is not merely an infrastructure investment but a strategic move toward sustainable production goals. He emphasized that the project sets an example for environmentally conscious manufacturing across the country.

In addition to its environmental benefits, the facility is expected to lower water consumption costs and reduce the risk of environmental penalties, supporting the company’s long-term financial sustainability.
