Luxembourg-based Tenaris announced that the acquisition, carried out through its subsidiary Steel Recycling Services, will streamline the company’s U.S. production processes by integrating scrap processing and strengthen its domestic manufacturing capacity. The acquired site covers a total area of 39 acres.
Tenaris acquired the EAF facility in Koppel, the former IPSCO Tubulars facility, in 2019 by purchasing it from the Russian company PAO TMK.
The scrap facility in Beaver Falls became part of SA Recycling’s portfolio in 2021, when the company acquired the former PSC Metals assets from Icahn Enterprises. Although the facility previously operated a vehicle shredder, PSC Metals is known to have halted these operations in the 2010s. SA Recycling’s current statements also do not indicate the presence of an active shredding machine at the site; however, the facility continues to purchase scrap vehicles.
Tenaris stated that following the acquisition, the facility’s operations will continue to be carried out by SA Recycling until early next year, and this period is planned as a transition period.
