Russian Stainless Company produces first batch of cold-rolled stainless steel coils

Russian Stainless Company (RSC) has successfully produced its first batch of cold-rolled stainless steel coil, marking an important milestone in the development of its new stainless steel flat products complex in Russia’s Volgograd region.

On the eve of the New Year, the first cold-rolled product made from a stainless steel grade was processed on the newly commissioned skin-pass mill at the Cold Rolling Shop (CRS). The facility is the first priority unit within RSC’s large-scale project to build an integrated complex for the production of high-quality hot-rolled and cold-rolled flat products from stainless and corrosion-resistant steel grades.

As part of the technological process, skin-pass rolling was carried out a light reduction rolling operation designed to enhance the mechanical and surface properties of stainless steel strip. Final processing on the skin-pass mill ensures a high-quality surface finish of the coil, a key requirement for domestic consumers.

The release of the first industrial batch is the result of successful hot trials of the core equipment at the Cold Rolling Shop. The production of the initial batch has confirmed the readiness of the equipment to operate under industrial conditions and to perform planned production tasks.

“The first products are not just a symbolic milestone, but practical proof that the sophisticated equipment installed at the Cold Rolling Shop has successfully passed testing and is operating with a high level of reliability. The parameters of the cold-rolled products meet the most stringent market requirements,” said Stanislav Olkov, Managing Director of the RSC complex.

In early 2026, RSC plans to begin commissioning works on the first of two 20-high cold rolling mills, which will form the core of the production chain at the new complex. Looking ahead, Russian Stainless Company aims to become a fully integrated producer of high-quality flat stainless steel products, meeting the latest Russian and international standards.
