Rebar prices fluctuate in Northern Europe

According to SteelRadar data, Polish rebar prices, which last fell by EUR10 to EUR6115 on 29 April, rose by EUR10 to EUR625 in the week to 20 May. Sources said that producers have realised high sales from last month's low prices and are likely to keep prices high during this period. At the same time, rebar prices have also been affected by the increased demand for the construction sector. Demand for the construction sector has been boosted by the continuation of the Polish government's programme to provide low-interest loans to first-time homebuyers.

Compared to the momentum in the Polish construction sector, rebar prices in Germany have remained stable.

According to SteelRadar data, rebar prices in Germany, which last fell by EUR13 to EUR625 on 22 April, continued to trade at a stable price in the week to 20 May. Sources said that no significant progress is expected for Germany's construction sector this year, emphasising that residential construction projects are increasingly being put on hold. It is said that the stagnation of the German construction sector is not only due to increased demand, but also due to a decrease in approvals for construction projects.
