According to a statement from Qarmet, the construction process for the new rolling mill at the steel plant site is ongoing. The facility is planned to be commissioned within the year, with the first commercial shipments scheduled to take place before year-end.
The company reported that site preparation works have been completed. These included the rerouting of the blast furnace water pipeline, removal of unnecessary structures in the production area, provision of infrastructure access, site leveling, and transportation arrangements.
Qarmet currently operates a rolling mill with a nominal annual capacity of 400,000 tons, producing reinforcing bars in diameters ranging from 10 mm to 32 mm. With the new investment coming online, the facility’s annual production capacity is expected to increase to 540,000 tons.
The new rolling mill will be equipped with a high-performance reheating furnace with a capacity of 100 tons per hour. The plant will utilize modern rolling technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency while maintaining international quality standards.
