According to the company, the new facility, which will be built in Wuhe County, Bengbu City, Anhui Province, will produce battery aluminum foil for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and other new energy applications.
Under the contract, Primetals Technologies will supply seven TCS packages, each designed for a foil rolling mill, along with Air Bearing ShapeMeter (ABSM) rolls for precise shape measurement and ISV spray systems developed to optimize flatness control. The project will also mark the first commercial application of the company's latest ISV Electric (ISV-E) and ISV Electric Compact (ISV-EC) spray systems.
The company stated that the fully electric ISV-EC system creates a three-dimensional spray pattern optimized for the aluminum foil rolling process, enabling highly accurate flatness control for battery aluminum foil. The spray bars, designed and assembled in the UK, will be delivered together with design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and after-sales support services.
The seven systems are scheduled to be commissioned gradually through 2027.
Cooperation expands
The latest order further strengthens the partnership between Primetals Technologies and Lidao New Energy. The companies signed their first major agreement in 2022, when Lidao New Energy ordered eight TCS packages, an Air Bearing ShapeMeter system, and ISV spray bar solutions.
With this latest project, Primetals Technologies has now supplied technology for a total of two aluminum cold rolling mills and six foil rolling mill projects for Lidao New Energy.

The company continues to invest in expanding its integrated aluminum processing capacity and battery foil production at its Anhui facility, aiming to strengthen its position in China's rapidly growing new energy materials market.
