Local rebar prices have increased in the past week, but wire rod prices have remained flat. Due to the winter season and the upcoming holidays, demand for both products has been relatively low.
Polish mills reported offers for rebar at 2,820 Polish zlotys ($716) per tonne, up from the previous week. However, wire rod prices remained stable. Previous offers from mills did not exceed PLN 2,800 per ton, while offers on the secondary market reportedly reached higher levels of PLN 2,850 per ton.
Sources stated that offers from Germany to Poland were made at €640 per tonne CPT. German producers were estimated to be inclined to sell at €630 per tonne CPT.
Polish producers continued to make offers for wire rod in the range of 3,100-3,300 zlotys per tonne, but the market did not seem to accept these levels. Wire rod offers from other European producers were also reported at €640 per ton CPT.
